Products and Programs
Australia’s restaurants are among the best in the world. Our chefs and sommeliers are in demand in London, New York and Paris. Put it down to our cultural mix, a climate that’s designed for fabulously fresh produce, and the fact that eating out in Australia is among the most affordable in the developed world.
As the peak industry body, Restaurant & Catering Australia is charged with the task of upholding these high standards. We represent restaurants, cafes & caterers and are dedicated to maintaining and improving quality & professionalism in the industry as well as promoting restaurants to the public.
R&CA have implemented and manage several accreditation programs. These programs are operated on a National level and provide a quality benchmark for the industry. They are to everyone’s benefit – to the customers of course, and ultimately the restaurants themselves. These programs help keep the industry strong and healthy.
Importantly, R&CA manages the national Awards for Excellence program. The Awards nomination & judging process is undertaken nationally. These are hotly contested and restaurants are comprehensively, rigorously and objectively assessed each year. The core that is mathematically derived from the judges report is then translated into an accredited Plate Rating of which each assessed restaurant can receive a rating of between two (2) and five (5) plates.
