The Restaurant Guide has been re-launched

The Restaurant Guide was created for the State Restaurant & Catering Association Members to promote their business on-line in 1999.

The Restaurant Guide has remained the most comprehensive Restaurant Guide in Australia since its launch.

In 2005, the Restaurant Guide was re-designed to feature many new functions promoting member restaurants, in addition to the vast information there already, making it more informative and user-friendly for your consumers.

Listings on the Restaurant Guide will continue to be FREE OF CHARGE to members of the State Restaurant & Catering Associations.

Features of R&CA's Internet Restaurant Guide

  • R&CA's unique Association position gives the opportunity for your restaurant to participate in "THE DEFINITIVE" online restaurant guide for the Australian restaurant industry.
  • Due to the Association's member size, www.restaurant.org.au will be the most comprehensive Internet Restaurant Guide in the Australian restaurant industry.
  • Your listing can be as basic or comprehensive as you like. You have the opportunity to include a photo, a logo, a sample of your menu, a discription, email to take bookings and a link to your existing website.
    As a benefit to members of the Association, your listing is completely FREE of charge.
    As with any form of advertising, your presence on the internet may not only be at
    www.restaurant.org.au, but you should include it on your list.
    It does not matter if you are already on the web - we can link the R&CA Internet Restaurant Guide to your site for no additional cost.

    The Restaurant Guide also has a booking service facility where bookings can be made through the Guide and sent to you via email or through the Booking Angel automated system. Its then up to you to accept or deny the booking in line with availability and booking conditions.

    What is a Gold License Caterer?

    Gold Licensing has established minimum standards for caterers in the areas of hygiene in food preparation, the quality of cooking personnel and management, the existence of appropriate Workers Compensation and Product & Public Liability insurance. All of these are potential problem areas for unsuspecting customers of Fly-by-night businesses, and ensure that consumers are supplied with a quality product.

    A Gold License Caterer Must Have The Following:

     

    1)Commercial Kitchen

    - A legal requirement for preparation, adequate refrigeration for food storage, appropriate facilities for transportation of food and the handling of food on sale.

    2)Up-to-date and Relevant Insurances

    - The caterer must provide protection of consumers by taking out public & product liability and worker compensation insurances.


    3)Training and/or experience

    - Gold License caterers must have or employ a senior person who has five years experience within the hospitality industry, in food preparation or catering management, or an employee who has trade qualifications in cooking.

    4)Foodsafe (WA only)

    - Implementation of Foodsafe - Food Handler Training Programme


    The Accreditation Process

    An independent Accreditation Board has been established in each state to undertake the approval of Gold License Caterers. The Board consists of representatives from governing industry bodies and State Accreditation Sub-Committee. Restaurant & Catering Australia has a commitment to industry standards through the establishment of the Caterers Gold License Accreditation Scheme.
